Scarce set of three folding Conyne-style kites, constructed of muslin with aluminum struts, intended to hoist aloft a wire aerial for a "Gibson Girl" emergency radio. The kites are each attached to a special rocket, designed to be launched by a Very flare pistol, which would then tow the kite into the air. The kites are housed in a 39" x 7 ½" x 5 ½" yellow-painted wood case, bearing a partial paper instruction label on one side. A stock tag from the International Marine Radio Co. Ltd. of London, dated Oct. 15, 1943, is attached within the lid of the case. Due to the difficulty of repacking the kites once removed, they have not been examined outside of the case. Should be seen.
