ROBERT LEY (1890 - 1945) Nazi leader and ardent anti-Semite who as head of the German Labor Front ruthlessly enforced slave labor policies. He committed suicide in his jail cell at Nuremberg while awaiting trial. T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Berlin, Dec. 10, 1943, to Alexander von Dornberg, head of the Protocol Department of the Foreign Office. Ley notifies von Dornberg that a ceremony honoring the tenth anniversary of the "Kraft durch Freude" ("Strength Through Joy") program has been rescheduled. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows folds, faint foxing, and file holes at left, else very good. The original invitation to the event, and a carbon copy of von Dornberg's note confirming that he will attend are stapled to the letter at top right. From von Dornberg's estate.
