Large Third Reich flag, 53" x 47 1/2", an "Ortsgruppe" ("local group") flag from the northern Bavarian town of Aschaffenburg. The flag is constructed for red cotton bunting with a large sewn-on white disk at center, likewise bearing a sewn-on static swastika. The name of the town is embroidered in white thread along with the subgroup designation "Nord 2", all on an 8"x 6" square of black wool with a white cord border, applied to the upper left canton on both sides. The fly edges are fitted with a 1 1/2" silver bullion fringe. The edge lacking fringe has been folded over and sew to form a hoist, with knots of brown thread arranged along this edge at 8" intervals. Shows a few spots of soiling overall, else very good.
