(1859 - 1940) American naval officer, served during the Spanish–American War and World War I, later serving as the Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet from 1919 to 1921. His memoir: "Yarns of a Kentucky Admiral" (Indianapolis: Bobbs Merrill Co.), 1928. 320pp. 8vo., in blue cloth with gilt title on cover and spine. Some wear at spine edges, corners bumped. Inscribed on front flyleaf, an ownership signature below and pencil notes above.
