(1885 - 1968) German general who planned 'Operation Weseruebung', the invasion of Denmark and Norway in 1940, later he became commander of the German troops in Norway between 1940 and 1944. Convicted of war crimes by a British-Norwegian and tribunal and sentenced to death, although this was commuted to twenty years' imprisonment. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Sep. 1, 1942, an award certificate granting the War Merit Cross, Second Class with Swords to "Leutnant" Helmut Gille of "Festungs-Nachrichten-Stab 13". Von Falkenhorst signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows a few small folds, with file holes at the left edge, else very good.
