(1914 - 2005) German U-boat captain, the third most successful and a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. He sank 35 ships for a total of 197,460 gross register tons. Good pair of signed items, includes: S.P., 3 1/2" x 5" b/w, a chest-up portrait of Topp in uniform, signed at top left in black ink. He signs again in black ink on the verso, adding a salutation in German and his post-war Bundesmarine rank "K. Admiral a. D." Shows a small spot of soiling affecting the signature at top left, else very good. WITH: S.P., 7" x 5" b/w, a vintage print showing Topp and another officer at a periscope. Topp signs in black ink at top right. Shows a repaired 3" cut from the left edge, not affecting the signature, else very good. Two pieces.
