Partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Feb. 13, 1942, an award certificate granting the War Merit Cross, Second Class with Swords to "Feldwebel" Gerd Bohnsack of "10./Inf.-Rgt. 167". Weidling signs at the conclusion in blue ink as major-general commanding the 86th Infantry Division. Shows a horizontal fold. file holes at the left edge and a few faint spots of soiling at lower right, else very good. The document is matted in red along with a brass identifying plaque, two photographs of Weidling, a photo of a soldier, presumably Gerd Bohnsack, with family, and a second partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., "In the Field", Feb. 28, 1942, granting Bohnsack the Wound Badge in Black, signed at the conclusion by a captain. All of the above are mounted in a silver frame, total size 17" x 21". This display is accompanied by four additional documents related to Bohnsack's military service, including: partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., Rostock, Oct. 8, 1937, Bohnsack's "Verpflichtungsschein" ("Commitment Certificate"), enrolling him in the Wehrmacht for a ten-year period of service at the rank of "Oberschutze". The document is signed twice by Bohnsack, as well as two officers. WITH: Partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Aug. 4, 1942, an award certificate granting Bohnsack the Eastern Front Medal, signed at the conclusion by a colonel. WITH: Typed D.S., 1p. 8vo., Stolp (modern Slupsk), Nov. 16, 1942, a preliminary award certificate granting Bohnsack the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, signed at the conclusion by a lieutenant-colonel. WITH: partly-printed document, 4pp. 8vo., [n.p., n.d.], Bohnsack's "Gesundheitsblatt" ("health record"), which he has filled in with his name, rank, place and date of birth, otherwise blank but for one notation on the third page. All of the above show folds, file holes and faint soiling, else very good. A fine archive overall.
