(1893 - 1946) German politician who began his career as an ace in World War I, rose to become Hitler's right-hand man and head of the Luftwaffe, finally captured and committed suicide on the eve of his execution. Signature in pink indelible pencil on a T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Berlin, Jan. 4, 1939, from OTTO ULLMANN (1899-1955), adjutant to SS chief Heinrich Himmler. At Himmler's instructions, Ullmann forwards Goering a copy of the official SS calendar for 1939, featuring quotes from the Luftwaffe chief on several pages, as well as his portrait. Ullmann signs at the conclusion in black ink, while Goering endorses the letter with his initials "GR" at lower left, adding "danken [thanks]". Shows original mailing folds and file holes to the left edge, else very good. This letter is accompanied by a retained copy of a second typed letter (unsigned), 1p. 4to., Berlin, Jan. 20, 1939, from a Luftwaffe librarian to Ullmann, transmitting Goering's thanks for the calendar.
