Most unusual typed D.S., 2pp 4to., Nordhausen, March 9, 1942, a true copy of a notice sent by the "Grossdeutsche Feuerbestattung V.V.a.G." insurance agency of Berlin to the "Chef der Sicherheitspolizei und der SS" ("Chief of the Security Police and SS") in Nordhausen. The agency rejects a life insurance claim regarding Nordhausen resident Erna Iser, in part: "...According to our records, the claimant is likely to be a Jew within the meaning of the Reich Citizenship Law and has possessed German citizenship. The above is gone, but where is unknown to us. It can be assumed that they are abroad or has been deported there, which we ask you to check. The information is required because, if appropriate, the insurance expired in favor of the Reich..." On the verso, an inspector with the "Kriminalpolizeistelle Erfurt" ("Criminal Police Office Erfurt") types a terse response to the agency: "The Jewess Erna Sara Iser, born Oppenheimer, born 18. 3. 1885 at Nordhausen, last residing in Nordhausen, Sandstrasse 12 was on 11.1.1944 evacuated to Theresienstadt", and signs at the conclusion in blue ink. Shows file holes at the left margin, with additional minor toning and chips, else very good. An insurance record card listing Erna Iser's basic biographical information is also present. Two pieces.
