(1889 – 1950) American four-star general who served as a commander in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War, where he commanded the Eighth Army before dying in a jeep accident. Walker led the 3rd Armored Division from August 1941 to August 1942, then commanded IV Corps and then XX Corps and brilliantly leading it into combat in Normandy as part of Patton's Third Army. Fine association T.L.S. as Commander of the Fifth Army and on official letterhead, 1p. 4to., Chicago, Apr. 22, 1948, to CLARENCE R. HUEBNER (1888-1972), American major general who commanded the 1st Infantry Division in its assault on Omaha Beach, in the drive across France, at the Hurtgen Forest and in the battle of Aachen. Walker invites Huebner to attend a championship boxing match between Army and Air Force teams "from all over the world" in Chicago. With carbon copy of Huebner's associated letter declining as well. File holes, else fine.
