(1891 - 1980) German admiral who headed the U-Boat arm of the German Navy, later succeeded Hitler as Fuhrer after Hitler's suicide. T.L.S. in German, 1p. oblong 8vo., Aumuhle, March 6, 1971. Donitz transmits two signed photos for his correspondent's sons (not present), and directs him to consult his memoir "Ten Years and Twenty Days" for information on his plans when appointed Hitler's successor. Donitz signs boldly at the conclusion in blue ink. Shows original mailing folds, loosely matted in black along with a modern photo portrait, very good overall. Includes a typed translation.
