Brooks was then Placed in command of VI Corps, Brooks was crucial in blunting the German attacks at the Bulge and drove through Germany to the Italian border. Fine association pair of T.L.S.s on Army letterhead, Washington, 1949 to CLARENCE R. HUEBNER (1888-1972), American major general who would command the 1st Infantry Division in its assault on Omaha Beach, in the drive across France, at the Hurtgen Forest and in the battle of Aachen. Brooks expresses his opinion and that of Gen. Omar Bradley that Huebner remain in Germany in as Chief of Staff, European Command, asks for Huebner's "completely frank" opinion, and adds that his old commander was doing an "outstanding job, and you have our admiration and support..." File holes, else very good.
