ALEXANDER M. PATCH (1889 - 1945) American Army general who also commanded Marines in the invasion of Guadalcanal to relieve the 1st Marine Div., headed the invasion landings in southern France and link-up with Patton's Third Army. Died of pneumonia. War -date T.L.S. on his official Seventh Army letterhead, 1p. 4to., New York, Oct. 25, 1944, to Mrs. Emma Bracken of Bridgeport. He returns a photograph that he has sent for him to sign (not present), as well as a cloth Seventh Army patch, which is affixed to the page. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else very good.
