(1919-2006) U.S. Army combat medic, the first conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor for saving 75 men during the Battle of Okinawa. His life was the subject of the critically acclaimed 2016 film "Hacksaw Ridge". Signature in blue ink on a 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" postal cover released in his honor, adding "C.M.H." A copy of his Medal of Honor citation is enclosed within, and a pencil identifying inscription appears on the verso, else very good.
