(1896 - 1990) American major general, commanded the 78th Infantry Division and fought in the Hurtgen Forest and in the Battle of the Bulge. Lot of two T.L.S.'s, 3pp. total 4to., Washington and Baltimore, 1948 to CLARENCE R. HUEBNER (1888-1972), American major general who commanded the 1st Infantry Division in its assault on Omaha Beach, in the drive across France, at the Hurtgen Forest and in the battle of Aachen. Rice, attached to Troop Information and Education, discusses sending his deputy to Germany to observe and mentions Gen. Omar Bradley also cooperating with his plans which have incorporated the Air Force and Navy. With carbon copies of Huebner's associated letters as well. File holes at top, else fine.
