(1886-1974) German cavalry officer in World War I and a general during World War II, noted for his pioneering stance and expertise in the field of armored warfare. Good content T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Irschenhausen, June 21, 1958. In small part: "...I was for 4 1/2 years military and air attache in London and therefore can speak good enough English...The son of...von Papen...was at times in the Eastern campaign as a Panzerkorps staff member led by me....I am one of the few surviving older German leaders out of the Normandy battle...I had been friends with British Field Marshal Sir John Dill..." Very good.
