(1878 – 1966) German general and military advisor to Chiang Kai-shek, an important figure during the Sino-German cooperation to reform the Chinese Army. In 1938 Germany, under pressure from Japan, ended its support for China and Falkenhausen was recalled. He later became Military Governor of Belgium during its occupation. A.L.S., 2pp. 4to., Nassau, Oct. 19, 1956 in English to a researcher. He states he has recently been displeased: "...especially these last weeks with all these foolish and criminal acts by the British, French, [?] and Russian statesmen. All these gangsters have to be sent before an International Tribunal a la Nurnberg..." He mentions Franz von Papen and his relations, and offers to show the man letters remaining in his files. Fine.
