(1886 – 1944) German general and an early proponent of mechanization and armored warfare. Hoepner led an army corps at the beginning of the war, later commanded the 4th Panzer Group during Operation Barbarossa. Hoepner's Panzer group, along with the 3rd Panzer Group, spearheaded the advance on Moscow. Dismissed after the failure of the 1941 campaign, Hoepner was implicated in the failed 20 July plot against Hitler and executed in 1944. Rare war-date D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Wuppertal, July 6, 1938, concerns Schutzen Reg. 4 of 1.Leichte Div. Interesting content, in part: "...The provisions...on page 26 prevent the wartime combat use of explosive ammunition..." Signed in indelible pencil at bottom. File holes at left, else very good.
