An interesting Third Reich photo album, 40pp. oblong 4to., containing 52 first-generation and commercial photographs, as well as several illustrated postcards. The brown patterned faux-leather cover is decorated with a gilt swastika and the title "Gedenkbuch" ("Commemorative Book"). The photos within appear to focus primarily on one particular "Sturmfuhrer" of the SA, with nine photos showing him in uniform or in plain clothes, in posed views or leading his SA unit in marches. Many of the photos depict the funeral of SA man Franz Ertl (as identified by the captions applied two commercial images), who was killed by Communists in a street fight in 1933. Most interestingly, three small original snapshots offer candid views of Adolf Hitler, although additional commercial views of him are also present. Two snapshots and a postcard feature the "Feldherrnhalle", the monumental building in Munich which played host to the fight that ended Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch. It became a sacred site to the Nazis after Hitler's rise to power. The album closes with three commercial views of the zeppelin "Hindenburg" over Germany. All photos are securely affixed to the page, showing no losses, and with minor wrinkles to the covers, else very good.
