HEINRICH HIMMLER (1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the SS and Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremberg. Fine association presentation signed book: "Das Blutgericht am Haushamerfeld" by Karl Itzinger (Leipzig: Leopold Stocker Verlag), 1938. 344pp. 8vo., a nationalistic tale set during the Peasants' War of 1626 which saw Upper Austrians revolt against attempts to press the country into the Catholic faith. Himmler boldly inscribes the front flyleaf: "SS Oberfuhrer Ulrich Graf in cordial old comradeship. H. Himmler 6.VII.1939." Fine condition, in fine original dust jacket. ULRICH GRAF (1878–1950) was one of the earliest members of the Nazi Party and of Adolf Hitler's inner circle, and was selected by Hitler as a personal bodyguard. At the Beer Hall Putsch, Graf took a bullet to the shoulder before throwing himself on Hitler and taking five more bullets. In 1936, Graf was elected to the Reichstag and after the war spent five years at hard labor.
