(1892 - 1966) German SS general, one of Nazi Germany's most decorated soldiers. Prior to 1929 he was Hitler's chauffeur and bodyguard but received rapid promotion after his participation in the Night of the Long Knives. Commanded 6th Panzer Army in the Battle of the Bulge. Sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for the execution of American P.O.W.s during the offensive. Scarce war-date L.S., 1p. 12mo. on his personal "Sepp Dietrich" correspondence card, [n.p.], Oct. 3, 1942, a warm and friendly letter in German penned by his wife Ursula, signed by her and to which Dietrich adds: "Greetings your Sepp" at conclusion. Fine. Dietrich was on leave at the time, as from August, 1942 to January 1943 the regiment was resting and rebuilding in France, in the Paris-Normandy region.
