Group of seven documents related to the military service of SS-Unterscharführer Heinrich Muller of 2./SS-Polizei-Gren.-Regt. 2. Included in the lot is: promotion certificate for Muller from SS-Schützen to SS-Sturmmann of the reserve of the Kraftfahrtstaffel / II. / 5.SS Inf.-Rgt. (Mot.), issued in Plock, Apr. 29, 1941; certification for the SS-Rottenführer confirming his deployment with the 2nd SS-Infanterie-Brigade from Sep. 9 to Oct. 3, 1941 in the area Wyriza, issued Oct. 4, 1941; notice of promotion to SS-Unterscharführer, issued in Kommandostab Reichsführer-SS on July 1, 1942; preliminary award certificate of the War Merit Cross, 2nd Class with Swords, issued in the field by command post RF-SS on Apr. 20, 1943; award of the Wound Badge in Black, issued in Res.-Laz. Gumbinnen on June 1, 1943; telegram to his mother about the stay in Gumbinnen; form letter from senior medical officer Dr. Staudt to Muller's mother advising that her son had been operated upon and asking about his health, June 23, 1943; and four empty Feldpost envelopes from Dec. 27, 1944 to Jan. 15, 1945, all annotated "Return to sender", one also marked "Fallen for Greater Germany". Overall very good. The 2nd SS Infantry Brigade (mot.) was formed on the 15 May 1941, under the command of Karl Fischer von Treuenfeld with the 4th and 5th SS Infantry (formerly Totenkopf) Regiments and began its operational service in September in the Army Group North Rear Area, under which command it would spend its entire existence. It gradually began to incorporate foreign legions of the SS under its operational control. After the western legions departed for refit, it began operating with Latvian volunteer formations and eventually was re-designated the 2nd Latvian SS Infantry Brigade and on the 18 May 1943, and used as the cadre in the formation of the Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (2nd Latvian) in January 1944.
