(1902 - 1947) French general and posthumously a Marshal of France. Leclerc joined the Free French forces after the fall of France, and under Patton his 2nd Armored Division participated in the battle of the Falaise Pocket and went on to liberate Paris. Represented France in the surrender of Japan, killed in an aircraft accident. Very rare S.P., 8” x 10” b/w, a terrific Signal Corps image of Leclerc with fellow officers and American soldiers behind him as he triumphantly strides into Rambouiller on August 22, 1944, a suburb of Paris which the French would liberate three days later. Boldly signed beneath his image in black ink. Fine.
