(1880 - 1964) American general and Allied Supreme Commander in the Pacific in World War II, accepted the surrender of Japan and was later dismissed by Truman for advocating an invasion of China. War-date T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Manila, May 23, 1945, to National Secretary of the National Society-Army of the Philippines J.S. Wood, acknowledging receipt of the Manila Times containing a proclamation made by MacArthur's father [in 1900, when he served as Governor-General of the Philippines], and praising the service of Wood and his Society. Shows staple holes at upper edge, with horizontal folds, else very good.
