(1885 - 1945) "Old Blood and Guts" was one of the finest tank commanders in history, rolling his forces through Tunesia, Sicily, France and Germany until halted at the Rhine. Fine content A.L.S. "G. S. Patton, Jr." on "Headquarters Fifteenth U.S. Army" letterhead, 1p. 4to., [Germany], Nov. 1, 1945. The general pens a bittersweet letter to a lady in Harrisburg, Pa., in part: "...Thanks for the quotations from Bill Cunningham they are most interesting. I think 'Postwar Picture' is really a swell poem and very sadly true. Your Christmas Box has come but like a good boy I shall not open it until Dec. 25 '45...You live up to your friends idea of friendship..." Fine, with transmittal envelope. Six weeks later, Patton would die as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident...passing on December 21, 1945.
