Fine group of ten original 8" x 10" photographs from "Central Continental Prisoner of War Enclosure No. 32", code-named "ASHCAN", the Allied prisoner-of-war camp in the Palace Hotel of Mondorf-les-Bains, Luxembourg established immediately after the German surrender. Operating from May to August 1945, it served as a processing station and interrogation center for the 86 most prominent surviving Nazi leaders prior to their trials in Nuremberg. The photographs, taken under the supervision of SHAEF Captain Hess (father of our consignor), include: two showing Hermann Goring at front center, with his fellow prisoners standing beside and behind him; two showing Franz von Papen and five others in standing poses; five showing the hotel, fortifications and guards, and one image showing the ASHCAN officers and some staff. Overall fine condition.
