(1837 - 1923) Union general who fought with distinction at Gettysburg and helped to repulse Jubal Early's raid on Washington. A.L.S., 1p. 8vo., Milford, Pa., Sep. 7, 1889 to "Hazzard". Hardin asks the man, probably a publisher, to correct his manuscript inserting "Beverly Ford" in a section concerning "Brandy Station". He adds: "Our cavalry usually call the cavalry fight of June 9/63 by the name of Beverly Ford although it was fought near Brandy Station..." Fine.
