(1726 - 1797) Signer of the Declaration of Independence, member of the Continental Congress, major general in the Continental Army. A.D.S., 1p. 6" x 2 1/2", [Waterbury, August 1774], a receipt: "Mr. Samuel Lyman [?] Ten pounds for Prosecution Teste O. Wolcott Assist". According to additional docketing in another hand, Wolcott's note was removed from a writ of attachment concerning bail in a case involving one Amos Dutton. Very good. Samuel Lyman (1749–1802) would become a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts, elected as a Federalist to the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Congresses.
