VICTORIA (1819 - 1901) Queen of England, reigned during the Crimean and Boer Wars, abolished the East India Company, brought Disraeli to power as Prime Minister, and is considered the symbol of a unified British Empire. Manuscript D.S., 2pp. legal folio, Buckingham Palace, London, July 5, 1855, the nomination and appointment of Lt. Gen. James Ferguson as a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath. Signed at the head of the document by the Queen, and at the conclusion by ALBERT (1819-1861), Prince Consort and husband of Queen Victoria, who signs: "Albert Great Master". Very good, with a presentation envelope. Lt. Gen. James Ferguson was commander of the British Garrison at Gibraltar.
