(1741 - 1811) Signer of the Declaration of Independence for Maryland, traveled with Franklin and Carroll to Canada in an attempt to secure that colony to join the rebellion, later appointed by Washington to the Supreme Court but impeached through the efforts of John Randolph. Rare war-date manuscript D.S., 1p. 8 1/4" x 1 1/4", [n.p.], Oct. 17, 1780, a receipt 10.19.7 pounds "in new Bills of Credit of this full for my allowance in March Journal..." Likely removed from a ledger but complete in itself, closely-cut at bottom clipping the lower part of the "C" in the signature, some toning but still very good.
