(1746 - 1809) American Revolutionary politician and military officer captured at Charleston, member of the Committee of safety and a Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Scarce partly-printed D.S. “Tho. Heyward Jun,” as Circuit Judge, 1p. 13" x 8 1/4", Charleston, Mar. 18, 1788. Heyward issues a subpoena ordering "Benjamin Tutt... Planter" to appear in a court matter versus several plaintiffs in the U.S. and Great Britain who have levied complaints that Tutt was indebted to them for the princely sum of 5,520 Pounds. Light folds, else fine condition with the original wax and paper seal intact. Ex: Kenneth Rendell, ca. 1960-67.
