Signed and inscribed book, "Assault on the Liberty", by James M. Ennes (New York: Random House), 1979. 299pp. 8vo., an account of the attack on the intelligence ship USS LIBERTY by Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats during the Six-Day War. The book has been signed in black ink on the half-title page by the ship's captain, WILLIAM L. MCGONAGLE, adding the inscription: "The outstanding performance of every man on board USS Liberty (AGTR-5), during our awesome hours of peril, is what saved the ship. Every person on Liberty during the attack share in the honor which was bestowed on me", referencing his receipt of the Medal of Honor. The book is further signed on the front flyleaf by six surviving crewmembers, some adding their rank and a dedication. Shows slight wear to the covers and the dust jacket, else very good to fine.
