(1734 - 1821) Signer of the Declaration of Independence from New York and member of the House of Representatives (1789-91). Manuscript D.S., 1p. 8vo., New York, Mar. 12, 1784, a receipt for 24.19.5 pounds paid to him by N.Y. State Treasurer Gerard Bancker per orders of ISAAC ROOSEVELT, Commissioner of Loans. Above Floyd's letter, Roosevelt instructs that the payment be made, as apparently Floyd had overpaid that sum to the treasury. Fine. Isaac Roosevelt (1726–1794) was an American merchant and Federalist politician. He served in the N.Y. State Assembly and the state Constitutional Convention and achieved the most political success of any Roosevelt before Theodore Roosevelt. Isaac was the patrilineal great-great-grandfather of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
