(1731-1811) Signer of the Declaration of Independence for Connecticut and member of the Continental Congress. Manuscript D.S. "William Williams Assistant", 1p. legal folio, Lebanon, Ct., Sep. 4, 1799, a summons of Eliphalet Huntington of Windham to appear in Norwich to testify in a case of "Book-Debt". On the verso, Williams adds an autograph note the following day: "I then read the within Citation in the hearing of the within named Eliphalet Huntington..." Williams initially signed with a faulty pen, then found a better implement, finished his signature, and nevertheless managed to brush two letters. Still quite good.
