Lot of five items signed by multiple members of 509th Composite Group, 393rd Bombardment Squadron Crews B-7, B-8 and B-10. Their aircraft were refitted to Silverplate configuration becoming atomic bomb capable and the crews were deployed to Tinian in late May 1945 in preparation for anticipated atomic bombing raids on Japan, including Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Included is: CREW B-7 "SOME PUNKINS", Nose art photo 5 x 7 in. signed by Airplane Commander JAMES PRICE, Bombardier THOMAS COSTA and Tail Gunner CLYDE BYSOM; CREW B-8 "TOP SECRET" (Enola Gay backup, Aug. 6, Weather recon, Nagasaki Aug. 9), Nose art photo 5 x 7 in. signed by Pilot JAMES BONTEKOE, Asst. Flight Engineer DONALS COLE, Navigator JACK WIDOWSKY, Flight Engineer GEORGE COHEN, and Mechanic FRANK SCHRAMKE; with a 1p. 4to. memoir signed by JACK WIDOWSKY; and CREW B-10 "UP AN' ATOM" (Cameras at Hiroshima, Aug. 6, Weather recon Kokura, Aug. 9), two nose art photos 5 x 7 in. and 8 x 10 in., each signed by Navigator RUSSELL GACKENBACH who adds the name of the aircraft and mission details beneath his signature. With records for each aircraft. Five pieces, fine condition.
