Good content A.L.S., 4pp. 8vo., Waterloo, New York, April 26, 1865, from "Amanda" to her unnamed cousin, in part: "...Our Nation is in Mourning for our President is no more, we have had a great deal of good news lately, the fall of Richmond, and then to have such sad news, it is to bad. Booth was not caught the last news we had. I think he will be caught I hope so at least...[all sic]" additional family and personal content, signed at the conclusion in black ink. Shows a 1" x 4" area of paper loss at the top of the first page, with minor splits to the original mailing folds, and the ink a tad light overall, else very good. The original transmittal envelope is also present.
