Description:

CONFEDERATE PAROLED POW PASS FOR GEORGIA SOLIDER A very rare partly-printed war-date 1p. 4" x 6 3/4" Confederate paroled prisoner of war pass on lime green stationery, Montgomery, Ala., May 10, 1865, reading, in part: "THE BEARER, Henry Mimms PAROLED PRISONER, of the C. S. A. has permission to proceed by river to his home in New Orleans and there remain without molestation so long as he observes the condition of his parole... ". Signed in type by Major and Provost Marshal Ross Wilkinson 5th Minnesota Vols and endorsed twice by Capt. James Andrew Sexton 72nd Illinois Vols. Mimms enlisted as a private in the 2nd Georgia Battalion Infantry and served throughout the war. Needless to say, this is a prohibitively rare paroled prisoner's pass as we can locate no other example of this form ever being sold in the marketplace! $600-800
