Description:

DAVID BERKOWITZ
(b. 1953) Mass murderer who called himself the "Son of Sam", terrorized New York City in the Seventies killing six under orders from a neighbor''s dog. Group of 14 letters signed and unsigned, some with good content, all written from the Sullivan Correctional Facility in New York, 1992. In all there is: one T.L.S. signed in full, two T.L.S.s "David", one T.L. with lengthy holograph postscript; three envelopes with his holograph name and return address, with the balance signed "Sunshine" in type or unsigned, but with corresponding envelopes bearing his typed name. The content in these typed letters, most with a few holograph additions or corrections, ranges widely from religious to discussions concerning other killers to rants about UFOs and modern culture. In very small part: "...Jim Jones #1 was only a forerunner...now they''re all over...pity these misfits who are following the devil''s angels...the inability to cope with UFO contacts is the major cause of suicides...there will be a war fought on the streets of almost every city in America...The FBI has a long list ofpeople they want to take care of. I''m one of them...as for the Dahmer clip...POSSESSED! He is turning others away from Christ!...I am rejoicing over the fall of Falwell..." More paranoid "end times" content. Very good.
