429. REV. MARTIN LUTHER KING (1929 - 1968) Clergyman and civil rights leader who advocated nonviolent but active and massive confrontation in order to obtain rights for blacks. Signature "Martin Luther King Jr." on a Time magazine cover dated February 18, 1957 featuring an elegant rendering of King with a preacher at a pulpit in the background and Blacks boarding a bus in the foreground. Fine association with King's two recent victories: the successful end of the Mongtomery bus boycott in December of 1956 and his election as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in January of 1956. Signature is very bold with high contrast, three punch holes at right margin, otherwise good.$2,000-3,000
