RICHARD NIXON
(1913 - 1994) 37th President of the United States, who reopened diplomatic ties with China and the USSR, resigned in 1974 due to the Watergate Scandal. Wonderful, fine association I.S.P., 16.5 x 13.5 in. (sight), Washington, Jan. 20, 1957 - the day of Nixon's second inauguration as Vice President under Dwight D. Eisenhower. The photo shows a jubilant Nixon with wife Patricia Nixon at his side, the pair flanked by top top inaugural committee officials. He inscribes the photo: 'To Edward F. Colladay with grateful appreciation for his splendid contribution to the 1956 Inaugural and with best wished from Dick Nixon'. Also inscribed to Colladay by New York banker and Chairman of the Inaugural Committee, ROBERT V. FLEMING, thanking Colladay for his 'outstanding service'. Nicely matted and set into a handsome carved black wood frame. Edward F. Colladay (1877-1961) had served as 'Chairman of Committee Reception of Governors and Distinguished Guests'. He was an attorney active in Washington civic, political and educational activities for nearly sixty-five years. The second inauguration of Dwight D. Eisenhower as president was held privately on Sunday, January 20, 1957, at the White House and publicly on the following day, Monday, January 21, 1957.
