(1895 - 1972) Controversial Director of the F.B.I. who built the organization into the world's finest investigative agency. Good pair of T.L.S's, the first 1p. 8vo., Washington, D.C., July 3, 1956, to Assistant to the Vice President Robert L. King. Hoover states his pleasure at attending the "President's Conference on Fitness", and signs at the conclusion in black ink. The second letter, 1p. 8vo., Washington D.C., May 13, 1957, thanks King for his message on the occasion of Hoover's 33rd anniversary as FBI Director, signing at the conclusion in black ink. Both show folds and slight paper clip marks at the corners, else very good. Two pieces.
