A fine, unaltered World War II uniform piece, a green-black leather greatcoat fitted with the slip-on rank shoulder boards of an infantry major in braided silver bullion on red wool "waffenfarbe", each fitted with the metal device "63". The front of the coat is closed with a double row of five green-painted pebbled metal buttons secured through brass grommets by brass split rings, with an adjustment strap on the rear secured with two similarly-affixed buttons. Each hip is fitted with a flap-covered pocket, and the interior is lined with brown silk, with two zippered interior pockets on the left-hand side. No maker's labels are apparent. The leather strip backing the right-hand buttons has partially detached but is still secure, shows expected wear and soiling overall, else very good.
