JOHN HARVEY KELLOGG
(1852-1943) Physician, surgeon and avid advocate of health reform as dictated by the Seventh Day Adventists. Kellogg, along with brother Will, invented and popularized the corn flake, revolutionizing American breakfast habits. Uncommon T.L.S. "J. H. Kellogg" 1p. 4to., Battle Creek, Dec. 5, 1919, to C. C. Ross on his imprinted letterhead, in part: "...Thanks for your leaflet entitled 'Some Facts about Tobacco'. It is time for a vigorous attack upon this dirty thing. It must be ousted from decent society. Your leaflet is a very good summing up of the evils of the use of tobacco...". With a T.L.S. to Ross by H. C. KING, President of Oberlin College, on Oberlin College letterhead , 1p. 4to., Oct. 4, 1919, in part: "...The Faculty have not yet voted on the matter...I have no more love for the tobacco habit than I ever had, and I have been fighting it for forty years...". Kellogg's letter bears moderate offsetting to top and bottom portions, clear of signature, marginal war, and tears thereon. Good condition. Two pieces.
